Harry Potter

So lately I’ve been reading the Harry Potter series which is great if you haven’t read it and wanted to share my thoughts on the first 2 books. By the way I’m on the third about half way through. By the way there will be a little bit of spoilers but not too much. Also this will probably be a short blog right now and I’ll make more about the other books and once I’m finished I’ll make a ranking.

So the first book is called Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone and is a great book but compared to the Chamber of Secrets it’s kinda mid. So basically it’s just about Harry first getting introduced to the wizarding world and Harry learning more about his past and parents. Also by the end of this Hermione, Ron, and Harry are friends now despite Harry and Ron not liking her at the start of the school year. SPOILER ALERT so skip past this if you don’t want spoilers.

In this one Professor Quirrell is the main villain while they thought Snape was and Professor Quirrell had Lord Voldemort in his turban the whole time.

Book was 10/10 for me but like I said not as good as the Chamber of secrets.

On to the Chamber of Secrets now. So in this book Hermione, Ron and Harry try to figure out how the Chamber of Secrets was opened and a girl named Ginny arrives at the school who is Ron’s sister (will be important later). They know it’s opened because on the wall things are written saying that it’s open and students are getting petrified left and right. At first, they suspect Malfoy but they were wrong after they used a potion to transform and talk to him. Then Harry finds a magical diary that belonged to Tom Riddle (this will be important later) and think the monster was captured and that it was Hagrid who set the monster free again. There’s also a new Defence Against the DArk Arts teacher named Gilderoy Lockhart (who is a bit of a nut-job) since Quirrell was fired obviously. SPOILER ALERT so skip past this if you don’t want spoilers.

So when they find the Chamber they find Ginny and Tom Riddle’s journal which also if you take Tom Riddle inside it is Lord Voldemort so turns out Ginny opened it and now Voldemort try’s kill Harry with the basilisk but fails and the journal is destroyed thus killing Tom/Voldemort. Oh and Lockhart gets fired whoop whoop!

This was also a 10/10 for me but better than the Sorcerer’s Stone.

Thanks for reading! I’ll make more blogs about the other Harry Potter books I read and possibly another series if you want me to write about a series I’m open to recommendations. Bye!

Halloween

Halloween

The writers of this blog are Teddy, Jonah and Callan

History of Halloween in the United States:

Halloween is a holiday celebrated each year on October 31st. You probably already know about the costumes and trick or treating but do you know the real history behind Halloween? Halloween originally started with the Ancient Celtic celebration of Samhain when people would make fires and wear costumes to ward away phantoms on November 1st. In the 8th century, Pope Gregory III made November 1st as a time to remember all the Saints Day.  Then eventually All Saints Day got added to Samhain traditions. The day before all Saints day was first known as Hallows Eve. Then eventually evolved into the Halloween we know today with all the costumes and trick or treating.

My Summer Vacation to Hawaii

During the summer I did a lot of things one of them was going to Hawaii. My family and I only went to 2 islands but it was really fun!

The islands we went to were Kauai and the Big Island. First I’m going to talk about Kauai.

When we were in Kauai we spent most of our time in the northern area in Princeville. Mostly we just went to beaches which were all really fun.

This one is called Hanalei Bay and was fun but a little bit boring because there weren’t a lot of waves like other beaches but you could jump of the pier.

Another one we went to was  Kē’Ē Beach which we went snorkeling in saw these really vibrantly colored fish.

Then we went south and went to a town named Poipu which was really fun. also at the AirBNB we stayed at there was on of the best boogie boarding beaches in the world called Brennecke’s Beach and it had some really big waves which were all quite fun.

There were also a ton of sea turtles there that were really cool and at night all of them came out of the water so the whole beach was covered with them. I’ve also seen a ton of photos with seals on the beach but I didn’t see any, but I’m sure you’ll see some.

After that we went to the Big Island where we went to the Volcano Lodge and ate dinner next to an erupting volcano. So that was really cool.

And now that I think about it I haven’t really talked about the airports which otherwise I wouldn’t talk about but these were really cool. Like every thing was outside. It was really cool in Kauai and the Big Island we also had a connection in Honolulu O‘ahu but since it’s the most like industrial island so it was kinda just a “normal” airport. First I’m gonna talk about Kauai’s airport so this one is really cool and obviously the gates were inside but other than that it was all outside and like the buildings looked kinda like a tiki bar. The Big Island airport was just a little bigger and was more modern. Here is a photo of the Kona Airport. P.s. I couldn’t find any photos for the Lihue Airport so if you wanna see it just search it up.

But anyways I’m gonna elaborate more on when we went to the Big Island. So when we were there we didn’t really go to a lot of beaches but also we were in Kauai. So first of all the volcano that was erupting if you don’t already know was Kīlauea Volcano which is an active shield volcano. Unfortunately we couldn’t go on Devastation Trail (dun dun dun)  because it was near the erupting volcano, I mean to be honest I probably wouldn’t go on it anyways considering it’s called Devastation Trail ( dun dun dun) and for some reason whenever I type it it follows up with dun dun dun soooo yeah. Anyways the trailers I went on were first the Thurston Lava Tube which was cool but it was kinda anticlimactic and somewhat a bad one to start on but then we went on the 3.2 mile monster the Kīlauea Iki Trail. So here are some photos of these 2 trails.

This is the lava tube which hence the name is like a tube that was made by lava flowing through it and burning the rock. This is how it looked basically throughout the entire thing so kinda boring and quite a short trail.

This is the Kīlauea Iki Trail which is 3.2 miles long and had my legs hurting a lot after but was pretty cool and I got to see a glimpse of the volcano erupting so that was cool. It definitely is an endurance test and it took us a little to get back to the parking lot but all around a good hike.

These hikes were awesome and I would recommend them to you if you ever go to Hawaii.

This was an amazing trip and I do recommend you to go to Hawaii and if I ever go to Mauai I’ll blog about that as well.

Thanks for reading!
